A NoSweat Exercise Program that Really Works
By: Eunice Coughlin
Uh-oh! A ?no-sweat? exercise program? That gives great results? What planet am I living on? Well, planet Earth of course and the equipment you need to do this exercise program is all around you. It?s water! Let?s take a look into the reasons why water-aerobics is the ?no sweat? exercise program that will bring you great results.
First, and most obvious, you don?t sweat when you do water aerobics. Your heart rate increases and your muscles get stronger but you don?t sweat while you?re doing it. You still need to keep yourself hydrated as you do it so keep a bottle of water nearby.
Second, you get the better results in less time because you are combining the benefits of cardio and strength-training in one exercise session. You can alternate water jogging that increases your heart rate (cardio) with the resistance that the water gives you as you move in the water. The result is you burn more calories and build up your muscle while you?re doing it so that afterward, you?ll continue to burn fat.
Third, you won?t experience the muscle pain that comes with ?land-based? strength-training sessions. The water cushions your muscles but still allows them to work hard enough to be strengthened. No muscle pain afterward means less chance of injury and a greater chance that you will keep exercising consistently.
Fourth, if the reason you are not exercising is because you are embarrassed at how out of shape and overweight you are, think up another reason. Water aerobics is great for beginners because you are underwater most of the time so no one can really see how overweight and out of shape you are. Also, it will be an easier transition into more movement for you if the exercise is low impact.
The best reason for adding water aerobics into your fitness routine is because it?s fun. Everyone knows that exercise has to be fun for you to stick with it. With water aerobics you get to use equipment that floats and it?s performed in a weight-less environment so it?s easier for you to do the movement with the proper form.
Most communities have a public pool or a YMCA with a pool that offers a water aerobic exercise class so there?s no excuse now to not take the plunge into water aerobics!
